A priest and his friend trace the path of a woman who was chased by a vampire through the sewers up into a church.

Act One

Aiden helps the Slayer Council scholars, who are in town to study the Syndicate library.

Connor is anxious about an upcoming trip with his father. He gets a surprise visit from Alix, who is intrigued about his relationship with one of the most notorious vampires in recent history. Angel and Connor head off for San Francisco.

Act Two

Together, they track down a man who can identify the incantation Angel was given by his liaison to the Senior Partners. An aura reader in the Haight sends them to a bar in the Castro district. A patron at the bar tells Angel where to find the man they are looking for.

Meanwhile, Angel's presence in town has caught the attention of the local vampire clan, who are determined to protect themselves from whatever he might have planned.

Back in Hollywood, Faith, Aiden, and Gunn await the arrival of Illyria, and debate whether she will be willing to help them fight demons bent on the apocalypse. When Illyria arrives, she dismisses the demons they are worried about, with the exception of the Anunnaki.

And down in Long Beach, someone new arrives at the nightclub Sekhmet. Alix introduces herself.

Act Three

Angel and Connor locate the priest who can tell them about the incantation. They are attacked by a vampire posse. Angel and Connor make quick work of the vampires and escort the priest out of town. He explains that the incantation will open a communication channel between dimensions, and tells Angel who the person is the Senior Partners charged him to find.

The vampire posse returns to their leader, who formulates a new plan for dealing with Angel. When Connor and Angel get separated in a downtown crowd, the vampires kidnap Connor.

Back in Hollywood, Illyria tells Faith, Aiden, and Gunn everything she knows about the Anunnaki, including the fact that they were the rivals that killed her.

Act Four

Connor is taken to the theater where the vampires have made their lair and Angel is lured there after him. They attack Angel. Angel and Connor defend themselves, inadvertently setting fire to the theater. Father and son escape and end up in the neighborhood of North Beach, where they have a few drinks, then head out to see the sites of the city by night.

Meanwhile, Aiden burns the midnight oil researching the Anunnaki, and discovers that they are not an apocalyptic cult, much less the cult Faith has been tracking.

The next day, Gunn finds himself inexplicably back in Faith's good graces, and Alix learns the truth about Connor's origins from none other than Drusilla.
