Representatives of the First Evil negotiate with senior executives at Wolfram and Hart so as not to interfere with each other's plans.

Act One

Connor has another run-in with Angelus. Realizing Holtz's family are in immediate danger, he returns to Holtz's to keep watch. A short while latter, a cook from a Yorkshire inn arrives to tell Holtz about the death of a chambermaid at the hands of vampires. Holtz goes to the inn with her.

Faith, Gunn, and Gunn's crew battle the Turok Han and defeat them, only to run into Harbingers intent on killing Faith.

Act Two

Angelus and Darla return to the inn and are chased into the countryside by Holtz and his men. The men come upon a cottage and warn its owner about the vampires. After they leave, the vampires kill the owner and hide in the cottage against the coming daylight.

Despite Faith's warning, Gunn's friends join in the battle against the Harbingers. One of them gets killed. But they can't let it stop them; the Turok Han are terrorizing Gunn's neighborhood. Aiden spots a Turok Han and tries to photograph it. It goes after him and he barely escapes. Faith, Gunn, and Gunn's crew run into the Watchers. Wesley aims a rifle at Faith.

Act Three

Arriving police cars scatter the Watchers, Faith, and Gunn's crew. Aiden spots the escaping Faith and follows her. The Watchers are on her tail as well. A paranoid Faith jumps Aiden when he gets too close and stabs him with her sword. Gunn stumbles upon the scene. Faith flees and runs into the Watchers. Gunn makes no protest as they take her away.

Professor Roth finds Connor contemplating the cottage where his parents are hiding. She tries to convince him not to kill them. Torn, Connor runs away. He trips and hits his head, falling unconscious.

Act Four

Connor awakes and goes in search of Holtz. He locates him on a road out of town and offers to show one of Holtz's men where the vampires are hiding. On the way there, however, he has second thoughts and jumps the horse. Pretending to be injured, he sends Holtz's man on his way, then takes a short-cut to the cottage. He warns his parents that Holtz is coming. They escape.

Connor tricks Holtz's men into believing Darla and Angelus are in the cottage. They fetch Holtz. When Holtz arrives, however, no one is there. The vampires are at his house, killing his family.

A despondant Connor returns to the present with Professor Roth, where history has proceeded normally.
